Copper Hills President - Jerry, Vice President - Marty, Treasurer - Kelvin, and Secretary - Janet

July 2020

July found Copper Hills traveling to Eagle Lake above Susanville, California on July 8th. We all stayed at the Merrill Forest Service Campground thanks to our trail bosses , Kelvin and Mike, for making reservations back in January of this year. The campground was “FULL”

Because of social distancing concerns, the campout was very informal during the week. There were no organized meals, but many times folks would gather in the evening and eat together. The only formal evening event was an ice cream social held the first evening of our campout.

There was however, a nice surprise during our campout, Mike and Denise from Eureka, Nevada joined us. It was great to see both of them. During the week Mike and Denise shared with everyone what to expect when we travel to Eureka for our August campout.

Saturday Morning the club had our monthly meeting:

The “informal meeting” was called to order by President Jerry, roll call was taken and there were 20 active members which represented 11 rigs. Guests were Stacy & Darrell (Mike D’s daughter and husband) , Denise T (Marty’s daughter), Mike & Denice P ( our friends from Eureka).

Jerry talked about letter from Director Jimmy Johnson. He stated that the Western Roundup is planned and listed some activities. The Round up is planned for September 23-26, 2020. Nevada Treasures in Pahrump, phone #1-800-429-6665, is where we will be staying.

Randy reviewed the Eureka camp out, (we will stay at the Fairgrounds). Randy & Mike P talked about things to do in Eureka— visiting the Exhibit Hall, the Opera House, the Charcoal Ovens, the Haunted House, a tour of Mike & Denice’s hotel, and a tour through tunnels under the town.

It was decided to keep the Copper Hills reservation at Rye Campground on September 8 -11 for anyone interested in going there instead of the Western Round Up.

The trail bosses, Mike D & Kelvin L plus Darrell & Stacy D, were thanked for their efforts at planning and managing the weeks activities and then the meeting was adjourned.

The last evening, after dinner, we decided to play a game of Bean Bag Baseball. We organized in to two teams women versus men. When we finished playing each team had chalked up a win. It was a good way to end the day and the campout.
