April 2020

Due to the social distancing orders in effect for Nevada, no Copper Hills meeting was held in April.  However, our Copper Hills members had an informal get together.  On April 21st, 2020 our chapter had an informal Zoom meeting,  which was arranged by Dean.  It was great fun to see most of our members and just get caught up on how everyone was handling the stay at home self quarantine.  Everyone was in good spirts and members shared funny  stories about  being quarantined.
Out of the meeting came a desire by many to have a social distancing picnic in the mountains.  To this end,  plans were made,  a trip was  planned and people made their own decisions about whether to join in.
During the zoom meeting we decided to hold on to our Rye Patch camp out reservation until the last minute before cancelling it, in the hopes the Nevada State Parks will reopen before our reservation expires.   Everyone agreed we should  still plan to go too Eureka in August.
We were also told the September Samboree has been cancelled by the State Director

March 2020

In March, Copper Hills had our monthly meeting at Denney's  restaurant in Sparks, Nevada.
There were 28 active members, representing 16 rigs and one honorary member Jim Powell.
Randy did an update on the proposed Eureka camp out at the Eureka Fairgrounds August 19-22. The cost of $125.00 per night will be split among the group attending.
Jerry will be the Trail Boss June 15-19th at Desert Rose RV Park, 3285 Hwy 50 E in Fernley, NV. The cost per night is $34.50
Dean  & Mary  talked about the Quincy camp out April 22-26. The theme is the Kentucky Derby with lots of fun activities. The cost is $40.50 per night; we now only will receive a 10% discount instead of the previous 20%. The Park is now under new owners.
A letter was read from the Northern Nevada Food Bank thanking Copper Hills for the check of $365.00.  The money was collected at our annual Christmas party.
Carol collected the food from our members to donate to Food For Thought in Carson City.  Janet and Dean agreed to deliver the food the following Monday. Our donations equaled approximately 330 individual food/snacks for the kids
Earlier in the day,  Brad had arranged a tour of the Battle Born Battery Lithium Ion Factory for our members.  The tour showed how the new RV 100 AMP Lithium batteries were designed, made,  tested and distributed.   The tour really helped our members to understand how the new style batteries could be installed and used in our own RV’s.  Brad was thanked for setting up the tour.
Paul and Mary were thanked for being the Trail Bosses for this months meeting.

February 2020

The February meeting for the Copper Hills Chapter of Good Sams was held in Carson City at
Reds Old 395 restaurant.  There were 23 active members present and  two honorary members Jim & Merre Powell.
Jerry volunteered to be a trail boss for the month of August, but requested that he would like someone to help him.
Dean talked about Pioneer RV Park in Quincy, California. It is under new ownership. Our rate is $40.50; we will only receive a 10% discount now.   Janet, Dean and Mary are the Trail Bosses for Pioneer Park on April 22-26.
Randy talked about the August camp out in Eureka. The RV campground there is full of miners and they will not have room for us. However, the Fairgrounds at Eureka will accommodate us. It will be dry camping, However, they do have bathrooms but no showers. The daily fee of $125.00 would split with whoever goes. He & Shirley went to Eureka and saw Mike & Denice. Mike & Denice gave them a lot of ideas of things to do. Things to do in Eureka are go to a Ghost town, visit the Opera House, explore tunnels, visit mine operations etc. It first was thought we would go June 24 thru June 27th; however several Copper Hills members couldn’t go then. It is under discussion to switch to Eureka for the August camp out and Jerry Bishop would do the June camp out.
Harry and Nancy were thanked for being Trail Bosses for this months meeting.
