July 2019

July found the Copper Hills chapter of Good Sams avoiding the July heat in Reno and enjoying a pleasant week (July 8 through 12Th ) at Merrill Campground, CA, near Eagle Lake. The campground is about 14 miles west and north of Susanville in the mountains.
Our trail bosses, Mike and Kelvin assisted by Mike’s daughter (Stacey) and son-in-law (Darrel), kept us all busy for the 4 days.
Monday- Meet and Greet at 6:30 pm with Root Beer Floats supplied by Mike and Kelvin
Tuesday- 10:00 am Cribbage Tournament and the winners were Judi and Paul. At 5:30 pm we had a potluck picnic with pulled pork sandwiches with members bringing salads or desserts.
Wednesday-10:00 am Brunch (everyone brought their own dishes to share), 11:30 am monthly chapter meeting, 2:00 pm Mexican Train Tournament and the winners were Carol and Randy.
Thursday-5:30 pm dinner followed by a game of Bean Bag Baseball between the boys and girls. Two games were played with each side winning one game.
When we were not playing tournament games or eating, lots of impromptu games of hand and foot, cribbage, rummikub, pinochle, and spinners were played.
All in all the Merrill campground is well laid out for camping, hiking, bike riding, quiet reading and just plain relaxing. With full hook ups everyone enjoyed all the comforts of home.
Thanks Mike and Kelvin for a great week of camping.
